Let’s start at the beginning. It all started in the 9th grade when I dated the most beautiful girl. Then I was lucky enough to reconnect with her in the 12th grade (1983), on June 28, 1986 we were married. In November of 1987 we had a son! Then the spring of 1988 we started a carpet cleaning business. By December, 1988 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. My wife (Carol) and my son (Jeremy) started to worry that I would not be able to clean carpets much longer. That’s when my son befriended a couple (Forrest & Wanda) that owned the molds that manufactured the EZ Sliders. We figured that if I lost the use of my legs, that I could still pack EZ Sliders. From carpet cleaning to fishing (how lucky am I?). M.S. is unpredictable and I have lost and regained use of part of my left side both legs and at one time the site in my left eye was damaged. I have experience double vision often during this experience. I am unable to walk without a walker and when I go out I must use a wheelchair. This is why I know how difficult it is to fish with disabilities. Not only do I know, but everyone involved in my life is experienced in the difficulties of disability. U-B Fishin’ consists of me (Darrin), my wife (Carol) and my son (Jeremy) Umbarger and my in-laws Larry & Jan Bayliss. U-B Fishin’ needs every single one of these people to survive. We try to make the tackle easy for anyone to use. For example: The Rags, Mini R’Eggs, Egg slides, and Egg sack slides are made with a tube in the center, so you can switch colors fast and easy plus you can secure them anywhere on your line with a toothpick. Our E-Z Sliders can be used in many different ways, like with surgical tubing & pencil lead to adjust your weight quickly. The Line Tamer is one of the most multi useful items on the market. It can be used for pulling line off your spool, for leaders, or loading line on your reel. When loading braided line on your reel, it is recommended to be on tight, so you just tighten your Line Tamer a little more to cause more tension. It can be used to hold multi piece rods together, instead of a rubber band. Put it around your wrist on rain gear and it will keep the rain from going down your arm. It is adjustable to fit a small spool or up to over a 2500 yd spool of line. Our Soft Bait Eggs come in 20+ colors, 10 in glow-in-the-dark and in 3 sizes (6 cluster, 3 cluster and singles) all poured on yarn, so they are very durable and you can cut some off and put them in an egg loop or use them to manufacture your own product. Many are now using them to tie flies because it has a yarn core and allows for easy application when using glue. If you look at all of our products you will find it is all easy to use, even for a quick change of color. All of our products go through our hands in processing and packing so we have excellent quality control. Now you can see why I am the most BLESSED person on earth. I will, in the future try to test different products (other than my own) that can be used by the disabled or just for easy tackle adjustments and leave remarks and a link to it on this page.
